Though much of the book is dated and will leave you scratching your head and wondering about certain brands mentioned, this isn't the info you bought the book for. I won't be the only one to review this book positively as it is considered one of "The Books" in the VW Off-road community. Very readable, and a goldmine of good advice I wasn't able to put this book down for two days, and still reference it while dreaming of the next project. Everything technical is still current, the advice still golden. There have been few advances in the Air-Cooled VW world, and if you are buying this book you probably aren't ready for them.
This book contains good advice for the owners of a Baja Bug, Buggy or Sand Rail that uses air cooled VW mechanical components. I refer to it regularly.
like the title says, this book has everything you need to know to build a baja bug or other off road vw based car.
I had owned a few Baja Bugs back in the 1980s, and just recently purchased another. This book is an excellent resource for all things off road VW. It is very dated, but always a good starting point.
Is good as far as letting you know what type of modifications are needed to build a baja buggy or sand rail but does not have much in the way of detail on how to do the modifications in some areas.A good vehicle specific bentley or hayes is needed if working on a vw bug. Also could use more, larger and more detailed illustrations and photos. A good starter.
